Return Policy
You may return your order for a refund so long as it is in new, resaleable condition
within thirty days
of receipt, under the conditions noted below. All parts, packaging materials, original cartons, and instruction materials must be included. Items such as CBUs, Pedestal Drop Boxes, Letter Lockers, all Masonry and Column Mailboxes, Courier Boxes, Letter Boxes, dVaults, Mail Chests, Roadside Security and Designer Roadside Security Mailboxes, Courier Chests, Collection Boxes, Fort Knox Mailboxes, CurbVaults, Special Lite products, Oasis Mailboxes, Secure Mail Vaults, Drop Boxes, MailSwing, Veeders Mailboxes, and ALL Heavybilt Mailboxes, Posts, Locking Inserts and accessories, will incur a
25% Restocking Charge. All returns must have a Returned Merchandise Authorization Number, so please contact us before returning any item. Items returned without such authorization will incur an automatic Restocking Charge. Please include your receipt (usually a print out of your emailed invoice which you should receive at the time you placed your order online). Refund includes the cost of merchandise, and not shipping expenses either coming or going unless such merchandise is defective. Any warranty problems will be handled by the respective manufacturer, although we assist with any warranty claims. Items damaged by UPS or other shipper during delivery are not considered “defective,” but are “damaged by shipper.” It is the customer’s responsibility to contact us if an item is received in damaged condition, so that we may file a claim with UPS or other shipper. All packing materials must be kept for claims to be honored in such instances. Please
note that Custom Fabricated Orders (e.g. address plaques, customized Drop Boxes, etc.) are non-returnable unless defective. Mailboxes with Custom Addresses installed are not eligible for a full refund because they are not in new, resaleable condition. Refunds for Custom Addressed mailboxes or posts will be determined on a case by case basis. Items
returned with damage, missing parts or packing materials, or without a Returned Merchandise Authorization Number, will be eligible for partial or no refund at the discretion of Steel Mailbox Company.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR ORDER IS RECEIVED IN DAMAGED CONDITION
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT INSTALL A MAILBOX OR POST THAT HAS BEEN DELIVERED IN DAMAGED CONDITION. DO NOT MOVE OR TRANSPORT THE DAMAGED ITEMS TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION. DO NOT RETURN DAMAGED ITEMS TO THE MANUFACTURER OR TO STEEL MAILBOX COMPANY. SET THE DAMAGED ITEM[S] ASIDE WITH ALL PACKAGING AND CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY. A DAMAGE CLAIM MUST BE FILED WITH THE PACKAGE DELIVERY COMPANY OR TRUCKING COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT HONOR A DAMAGE CLAIM IF YOU DO NOT REPORT THIS DAMAGE PROMPTLY, OR IF YOU MOVE, TRANSPORT, OR INSTALL THE DAMAGED ITEM[S]. Some customers contact us complaining that a defective mailbox was shipped to them. This is, as a rule,
not the case. What has happened 99% of the time is the shipping company or carrier has damaged the mailbox en route. This can happen even with our heavy gauge steel
products. Shipping companies often hire seasonal help, which consists of unmotivated package handlers who are urged to transfer packages as quickly as possible. The result is,
many mailboxes are thrown from the back of a truck onto a concrete floor. The more a mailbox weighs, the more force with which it will hit a concrete floor. This is what causes
the damage, which can consist of bent corners, cracked welds, etc. Sometimes package handling equipment can puncture the shipping carton, and denting or puncturing the side of a
mailbox. It is very common. Do NOT return the mailbox to us or the manufacturer under any circumstances without our instruction. Contact
us right away. As soon as we make a determination that the defect has been caused by shipping company neglect, a claim will be filed with the carrier and a replacement shipped to
you right away. You may be asked to send us a digital or print photo of the defect or damage. This is the simplest, best way to allow us to see the problem without shipping the mailbox back to us. We are not trying to inconvenience you. Once a determination of shipping company damage has been made, you will be asked to keep the damaged item[s] and all packing materials for the shipping company to pick up and inspect. This is their required procedure. Without the damaged item[s] and packing materials, they will not honor a damage claim. In the event that we determine the problem is a manufacturer’s defect, we will have a return Call Tag issued.
If you are receiving a large item via
truck, be sure to inspect the merchandise being delivered BEFORE signing any receipt of goods, bill of lading, and/or waiver of liability. The trucking company will not leave the
item with you unless you place your signature on such a piece of paper, however it does consist of a waiver of liability. If you find damage to your large mailbox, drop box, or
collection box later, the trucking company probably will not honor a claim if your signature is on their waiver of liability. It is important for the customer to make a close
inspection immediately upon delivery, before signing this paper. We are not responsible for damage done by a trucking company, especially if you have signed a waiver of
liability. Please do a thorough inspection before signing anything.
